It doesn't help that I have been ripping my whole CD collection in a lossless format & I do the same thing with every new album I get add to that the size of the pics that high resolution cameras generate these days & you can imagine how space has become an issue. I though 750GB would be & every day I get closer to walking out of space. I currently own outside drives, that I keep with all my information in the office (1TB), another backup at home(750GB), more with some music, pics & documents that I always carryover in a messenger bag & this, which will be replacing the backup at home. Besides, the convenience of this unit is unbelievable, it is slightly larger than a Smartphone, so you can carryover your information around if needed in a small & convenient case.

As somebody who has been backing up information for years, I was one time pleasantly surprised to discover that this 2TB unit does not require a separate power supply like older versions did (I still have of those WDBook units that are sizable & require to be plugged to a power outlet) These days everything appears to be pointing to the cloud, but when you have information you have been keeping for years (I still have a few DVD folders filled with discs), you are speaking about a size of information that may not be practical to upload somewhere to keep as a backup.
